Performance
The Explorer XLT is powered by a four-cylinder, 2.3-liter turbocharged engine that produces 300 horsepower. The Explorer ST is the first in the 2024 Explorer's trim lineup to come with a V6, 3.0-liter turbocharged engine, and this unit generates 400 horsepower. Both trims are outfitted with a 10-speed auto transmission. The XLT and the ST have standard rear-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive offered as an upgrade. The Explorer ST also has a sport-tuned suspension, trailer towing equipment, and transmission paddle shifters.
Appearance
Overall, the 2024 Ford Explorer is remarkably styled with solid and linear elements angling across the profile and the side panels. A flat hood with a rounded nose distinguishes the front end. The laced mesh on the hexagonal grille is paired with long, horizontal LED headlamps. This same horizontal design is displayed across the fog lamps. The Explorer XLT has roof rails, heated side mirrors, a power liftgate, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The Explorer ST builds on these features with power-folding side mirrors, tinted headlights, taillights, and black trim.

The 2024 Explorer is well-appointed across all trim levels, offering quality materials and the latest technologies. If you drive the Explorer XLT, you can take advantage of second-row USB ports, second-row captain's chairs, heated front seats, rear parking sensors, an 8-inch touch display screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a tri-zone climate control system, forward collision sensing and others.
