Safety is paramount for Ford and the Escape is no exception, it earned a government 5-star overall Safety Rating, which is the NHTSA's highest safety score. There are many standard safety features such as the AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™ which includes Curve Control that will slow the vehicle down when you are going too fast on a curve. The standard Tire Pressure Monitoring System will alert you when the tires are underinflated to ensure the vehicle maintains the best possible contact with the road.

Engine Choices
The Escape comes with 3 engine choices, a 2.5L, a 1.5L EcoBoost which is the most fuel-efficient Escape engine and if you want even more oomph in your drive, the 2.0L EcoBoost with twin-scroll turbo will give you that. Both EcoBoost engines have the Auto Start-Stop Technology to decrease fuel consumption and minimize emissions. Basically, the engine stops when you come to a full stop and restarts when you release the brake pedal.

Technology Leadership
The Lane Keeping System will alert you if you begin to drift into another lane by vibrating the steering wheel and even applying steering torque in the right direction. If the system detects that you are drifting too often, the dashboard shows you a coffee cup to let you know it's time to either stop, take a break, have some coffee or quit driving and get a good night's sleep that might save your life and the life of others on the road.
Adaptive Cruise Control is another available feature that will maintain the distance from the vehicle in front of you. The sensors detect the traffic or object ahead of you and adjust your speed accordingly.
If you are one of those people that have a hard time parallel parking, this available feature is for you. Enhanced Active Parallel Park Assist System. How does it work? The SUV uses ultrasonic sensors to detect an appropriate parking space and lets you know when it found it. You control acceleration, braking and shifting while the Escape does the steering.
If you are stuck in a tight spot, the available Park Out Assist will give you instructions on shifting, moving forward and back while it steers you out of the space automatically. Perpendicular parking basically works the same way, it detects the right parking spot and steers you into it while giving you a warning if an object is too close to you on the sides.
Available Foot Enabled Lift Gate
You just need to have the key in your pocket, swing your foot under the bumper and voila, the lift gate opens. This is very useful for moms with kids and those trips to the supermarket and home improvement store. To close it, you can just press the button or swing your foot under the bumper again and the trunk closes like magic.
